hope you're all well and fragalicious. a few weeks ago, my hard drive commited suicide and took my vid card with it..so..new hard drive and vid card now. ive re-installed far cry, but cant get it to run; i get a "please insert correct cd-rom and restart application" notification even though i have the correct cd in the drive. I went to the ubisoft tech help section and it looks like a have a "virtual drive" running somewhere.... any ideas?

thanks guys

Easiest way would be to do a remote assistance over msn for this kind of issue.

Do you have original FC disks or running install off a recorded image (iso file)?

Dern pc issues! it was probably that small pc store in the back of the gas station in Garson Ont that steered ya wrong...lol. Your best bet may be to set up the no-cd launch for FC. You point to a FC launch file on hard drive instad of CD so you don't even need the CD in to run!. letme look around and see if I can find the no-cd file that ya need to run to set her up.

Vista? Win7?

If Vista maybe this thread would help?

The no-CD crsck thing should work, but the error message is a strange one...makes me wonder if something went wrong during install.

P.s. Did you try wiping ur greasy fingerprints off disk?

Yeah Boots, Ppl were wondering whether u got locked up or something. Glad to see your almost back.

Do the nocd qwack like clark and slug said OR reinstall the 5 CDs.

Aside: This is the message you see if you dont have the cd in the drive. I saw the same message the other day with the cd in the drive. Just prior I had a major crash when making a DVD burn. It actually messed up the device driver (a reboot solve that). This might actually be related. You may need a manufacturer device driver for your CD/dvd drive.

Word on the street is that Boots wasa locked up at Millhaven pen for running an illegal hamster fighting club plus a ponzi scheme . My guess is his affiliation with the Corleone family sprung him in time to get his pc back in operation
